About This Project

The Lighthouse for the Blind (LHB), a organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, sought to modernize its ecommerce experience to better serve its customers and employees. To achieve this, LHB partnered with VSG Commerce to consolidate its digital sales channels into a single, streamlined backend infrastructure powered by Oracle Cloud ERP. This strategic objective aimed to improve accessibility, enhance user experience, and streamline sales processes across its Business-to-Business (B2B) website, Low Vision Store Services (B2C), and Point of Sale (POS) system at over a dozen Military Base Stores.

 

The project delivered several key features, including comprehensive ADA compliance testing to meet Level AA accessibility standards, integration with JAWS screen reader functionality for visually impaired users, intuitive Quick Order functionality for fast and effortless ordering, and a robust approvals system with multiple levels and submissions for efficient and secure workflows. Additionally, the project enabled flexible in-store POS purchase management, seamless ERP integration, and enhanced content management capabilities for easy updates and maintenance.

 

The partnership between VSG and LHB resulted in a modern and accessible ecommerce platform that has significantly improved the user experience for both customers and employees. With its robust features and accessible design, LHB is now well-positioned to drive digital growth, expand its ecommerce capabilities, and continue to be a leader in inclusivity and accessibility. This case study highlights the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in digital transformation and the impact it can have on individuals and organizations, demonstrating how technology can be leveraged to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.
